Our Guiding Principles

Our basic aim is to introduce to children, regardless of sex, creed, religion or nationality, the “World’s Most Beautiful Game” and to make learning fun. Whilst football is a highly competitive sport where “it’s Results that matter” we believe at this stage in a child’s development, FUN is the “Results that matters”

We want the children to learn the skills, techniques and laws of the game to fully equip them for later. Good camaraderie, teamwork, team spirit and friendship are just a few of the traits that we hope your child will learn by being part of Hall Green Junior Football Club.

To achieve this, we need to ensure that there is a good atmosphere and foundation, both during training and whilst playing in the football matches and to assist us in providing the right foundations a Club Constitution will be provided to each player.

Whilst the Club Constitution fully details the

commitments of club, players and parents, we believe that there are a number of important points which we feel you need to be aware of, should you wish for your child to become part of Hall Green Utd Juniors

Your Child’s Responsibility

Each player must have shin pads and adequate footwear (football boots and trainers *) for both Training and football matches

Each player must bring a drink, to ensure that they remain hydrated during the activities

Each player must ensure that they have adequate clothing both warm and waterproof (it is easy to take clothing off if too warm)

Consideration should also be given to hats and gloves during the winter months (A child will not want to take part if they are cold. It’s easier to deal with a warm child than a cold child)

We may not use the All Weather pitch for the younger children and during the summer months, the grass can become very hard and football boots with studs can be a painful experience at such times. Sturdy (astro type) trainers may therefore be more suitable.

The Parents/Spectators’ Responsibilities

(We ask that you ensure that any visiting family and friends are aware of the following)

We fully understand if you wish to stay and watch your child taking part in training and at the football matches but we ask (particularly for Training)

You do not encroach into the training/playing area

You keep a reasonable distance between you and the Training Area. (Some children may feel pressured into trying to do well for you rather than enjoying the experience for them. It’s natural that your child may want to please you but remember; Football is meant to be Fun for the child first and foremost.)

You have a great influence upon your child’s enjoyment and development. All children enjoy football because first and foremost it’s FUN.  We all want to win, but must to realise that young children in particular want to have FUN – there is plenty of time in their young lives to understand winning and losing.

It is important to remember that however good your child, with positive encouragement you can contribute to

Your child’s enjoyment of football and that football is fun

A sense of self-esteem and confidence

A sense of personal achievement and pride

develop their all round potential

Your positive attitude to

Coaches,

Other team players,

Officials (yes, which does mean Referees!)

Other team spectators/fans

will have a significant bearing on your child’s overall development.

We positively encourage that you

Applaud the opposition as well as your own team/child

Avoid coaching during the game or  training session

Not to shout and scream (this can frighten some children)

Not to use foul and abusive language (this will result in you being asked to leave the area and could result in the Club being fined by the Football Authorities)

Respect the Referee’s decision (no matter how right YOU  are!)

Give attention to ALL the children playing the game (not just the most talented) and positively encourage all.

The Coaches Responsibilities

All Coaches have current Certificate of Child Protection Registration, as registered by Sheffield and Hallamshire Country Football Association.

All coaches have an appropriate level of coaching which is regularly up date – many have the FA Level 1 Football Certificate or the Junior Team Managers Certificate.

As the children develop in terms of physical and technical ability, it is the intention that the Coaches take additional coaching courses.

All Coaches will:

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of each player, regardless of sex, creed, religion, nationally or ability

Ensure the well being and safety of all those taking part in the activities

Seek to improve ALL players, regardless of an individual’s natural ability

Encourage and guide players to accept their own responsibility for their own performance and behaviour

Always promote fair play and the laws of the game

Will never condone foul play, foul and abuse language or any gamesmanship that breaches the spirit of the game

We hope that this has provided you with some useful information about Hall Green Utd Juniors though if you have any questions, queries or concerns please feel free to speak to any of the Coaches or Club officials

We hope that you find the experiences of Hall Green Junior Football Club a happy one and if you have any comments, please let us know, as your feedback is most welcomed.
