Annual Six-a-Side Soccer Competition Rules

All people participating should be under that particular age group as of 1st August.

Number of players – Each team shall consist of six players and up to two substitutes who, with the referee’s permission, may take the field of play at any stage of the games.  Teams may only register eight players.

Registration of players – All teams will be provided with an official registration form, which will be completed and handed in to the official in charge of the control tent prior to the team playing its first game (no player can register for more than one team).

Ineligible Players – Any team found to be playing an ineligible player shall be barred from the remainder of the competition.

Conduct of Players – Each team Manager shall be responsible for his team’s conduct and that of its supporters (i.e., unruly conduct by supporters may well prejudice the team’s continuation in the competition).

Structure – Each league will be divided into six teams; each team will then play the other team in its age group on a league basis of three points for a win, two points for a score draw and one point for a no score draw.  Where League points are the same, goal difference will decide the league position.  Should points and goal difference be equal, then the team which has scored the most goals will be the league winners. Should all things be equal, then the league will be decided from penalty kicks by fixed members of each team taken alternatively.  A minimum number of six penalties shall be taken by each team.  If each team has then scored an equal number of penalties the competition shall continue until one team misses a penalty.

Duration of Games – Each game shall be eight minutes, one way only.  The interval between each match should be kept to a minimum. Teams should be prepared to play immediately the preceding game finishes.

Start and Finish of Games – The start and finish of all league games shall be signalled by the referee’s whistle.  The only permissible play allowed after the final whistle shall be for the taking of penalties.  If after the signal to start the game, one team is absent, the team at present on the field shall wait for two minutes.  If after this time has elapsed, the second team has not appeared, the game shall be awarded to the team present as a 2-0 win.

Time Wasting and Injuries – The referee will award a direct free kick against any team or deliberate time wasting.  In the event of injury, it is the responsibility of the referee and the team manager to ensure the minimum delay occurs.

Cautions and Sending Offs –

A player sent off is barred from taking any further part in the competition All misconduct shall be reported to the Sheffield & Hallamshire F A on the appropriate form by the referee.
